When a child thinks it was their fault

When a parent leaves, children often believe they caused it. If I had been better, quieter or easier, they would have stayed.

Those beliefs can stay hidden for years, and they shape how a child sees themselves and the people who care for them.

It's Not Your Fault gives children gentle words for big feelings, and gives the adults who love them a way to start the conversation.

Inside the book

  • A warm, illustrated story about a child learning that adults leaving is never a child's fault
  • Activities to help children name and share their feelings
  • Designed to be read together, a little at a time

Made to be read together

Sit close, read a page or two, and let your child lead. Some days you'll read one page. Some days you'll read it all. Both are fine.

What parents are saying

"I bought It's Not Your Fault for my children, and I realized it didn't just help them. It actually helped me too. I was also amazed that there is a practical activity workbook to use afterwards, which my children loved doing. By the end of using the book and the activity book, I saw a sense of peace over them."
